CHI Celebrates Founder Doris Ison for Black History Month 2015

When Doris Ison, a tomato picker, became fed up with the lack of access to medical care in South Dade, she didn’t let barriers deter her from her dream — adequate health care for all. Her quest resulted in the creation of what is today Community Health of South Florida, Inc. (CHI), a nonprofit health care company with 10 health care centers, 42 school-based centers and a wide variety of services and programs.

Doris Ison is an under-appreciated hero in her hometown of Florida City. CHI of South Florida honored the memory of its founder Doris Ison on the 41st anniversary of her appearance before the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging where she spoke on behalf of the elderly and those underserved by public transportation.

Last Two Days for Affordable Care Act Enrollment This Weekend

Miami— Community Health of South Florida Inc. (CHI) enrollment staff are having a very busy day today as those who waited until the last minute show up for help enrolling in the Affordable Care Act(ACA) . So far, CHI has enrolled nearly 4000 people into insurance plans under ACA this enrollment period.
