In Florida, there are 181,000 children living with serious mental illnesses, and suicide remains the 3rd leading cause of death for ages 15-24. Mental illness is a silent but deadly force that continues to plague the young minds of our community. The most unfortunate part of this reality is that 55% of children needing mental health treatment are not receiving it – simply because they do not have access to the proper mental health services.
For this reason, CHI embarked on a monumental venture to construct the only free-standing Children’s Crisis Center in south Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. This 11,400-square-foot 24-hour in-patient facility will house a team of board-certified psychiatrists, social workers, counselors, and clinicians ready to provide personalized care to children up to 17 years old, regardless of their ability to pay.
Your donation will be used to directly build this much needed facility to help the children of our community.
