Richard Lipscomb Jr., DDS

Dr. Richard Lipscomb Jr. is the Dental Director of the Brodes H. Hartley, Jr. Teaching Health Center. He is a general dentist, an international speaker, and a lecturer. Dr. Lipscomb attended Howard University School of Dentistry and Mercyhurst College. He has performed restorative procedures for more than 20 years and placed mini dental implants since 2006. During that time, he has overseen hundreds of cases and has gained the experience to train other doctors on placing mini dental implants and more. Dr. Lipscomb is a Catapult Education speaker and on the editorial advisory board for Dental Products Report. He has written articles and conducted several seminars.

Dr. Lipscomb’s unique dental experience includes private practice and public health service in community health centers. By delivering restorative procedures in a variety of dental environments, he has spent years working with a wide range of resin materials to suit many challenging clinical situations.

His hobbies include fishing, jogging, and the outdoors. He also enjoys attending sporting events.

Michel Alpizar, RDH

Michel Alpizar, RDH, is a dental hygienist at Community Health of South Florida’s (CHI) Doris Ison Health Center and mobile dental unit. He received his dental degree in Venezuela and has over 20 years of experience in the dental field.

Born in Cuba and raised in Venezuela, Alpizar moved to Florida in 2016 to pursue a career as a dental hygienist. He works hard to keep up with the latest dental technology, education and certification, in order to administer local anesthesia and provide the best dental care.

Alpizar enjoys working with a multicultural population. His hobbies include spending time his children and outdoor activities.

Lilian Vazquez Prado, RDH

Lilian Vazquez Prado, RDH, has worked at Community Health of South Florida’s, Inc. (CHI) Marathon Health Center since 2018. She graduated dental school in 2013 and obtained her dental hygienist license in 2022.

Vazquez Prado was born and raised in Cuba and moved to the United States in 2016. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

Maxwell Cardenas, DDS

Dr. Maxwell Cardenas, DDS, is a dentist at Community Health of South Florida’s, Inc. (CHI) Doris Ison Health Center. He received his dental degree as a dental surgeon in 2011. After completing his initial education, Dr. Cardenas pursued further training and completed a residency at the Florida Institute for Advance Dental Education in 2021.

Born in Nicaragua, Dr. Cardenas moved to the U.S. with his father and brother when he was six years old. He was raised in Miami and attended college at Florida International University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology. His love for dentistry was inspired by his father who was also a dentist. After college, Dr. Cardenas returned to Nicaragua for five years to attend dental school. He has a passion for helping others pursue their dreams of a dental career.

Dr. Cardenas hobbies and special interests include basketball, relaxing at the beach and working out.

Luciel Danta

Luciel Danta is a dental hygienist with more than 20 years of experience in the dentistry field. Danta started her tenure at CHI in 2016, when she joined the dental team at the West Perrine Health Center. Originally from Cuba, she graduated from Dentistry School in 1998 and worked as a dentist for 17 years until she migrated to Miami with her family in 2015.

In her spare time, Danta loves to spend time with her husband and two children, go to the beach and read.

Malena Fernandez, DDS

Dr. Malena Fernandez is a dedicated dentist with more than 10 years of experience. Born and raised in Cartagena, Colombia, she moved to the city of Barranquilla to obtain her degree as a Dentist-DDS at San Martin University.

Dr. Fernandez then moved to Miami, Florida, to obtain her Dental License at Larkin Community Hospital. Upon receiving her license, she began her practice at CHI providing comprehensive dental services to all patients.

Dr. Fernandez is a member of the American Dental Association and continuously seeks training and professional development opportunities.

Angela Cala, DMD

Dr. Angela M. Cala Morales, DMD is a provider with over 7 years of experience in the dentistry field. She is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to joining the CHI team, Dr. Cala worked for the Florida Department of Health as a Dentist for 5 years providing dental health care to the community of Miami-Dade County. She is from Colombia where she studied dentistry and enrolled in the international students’ program at Tufts in 2011.

Outside her professional activities, Dr. Cala enjoys Zumba, traveling and spending time with her family.

Yanet Jaime-Garriga, DDS

With considerable experience working with children and adults to promote healthy dental habits, Dr. Yanet Jaime-Garriga, DDS, promotes healthy dental habits at Community Health of South Florida, Inc. Born and raised in Cuba, Yanet Jaime-Garriga obtained her bachelor’s degree in General Dentistry at the University of Havana. She started her career in 2005 as a general dentist in a small, rural town near her birth city. Dr. Jaime-Garriga went further with her education as she completed her Master’s in Dental Emergencies. In 2006, she moved to Venezuela where she worked as a dentist for almost three years. In 2009, she moved to Miami, and she completed her certifications in Expanded Intraoral Functions and Dental Radiology.

Her professional affiliations include the American Dental Association and the Florida Dental Association. She enjoys spending time with her family, as well as participating in community events.

Maria Pierro

Maria A. Pierro

Maria A. Pierro, with CHI since 2008, is a dental hygienist at CHI’s Doris Ison Health Center. She earned her dental hygienist degree in Miami Dade College in 1995 as a board-certified Florida Dental Hygienist. She maintains her American Heart Association CPR certification in order to administer local anesthesia. She enjoys working with a diverse patient population.

Her hobbies include playing with her two grandchildren, gardening and traveling.

Alejandra Miranda, D.D.S.

Dr. Alejandra Miranda was born and raised in a traditional household in Leon, Nicaragua. She earned her dental degree from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Nicaragua in 1981. In 1986, she moved to Florida with high ambitions of revalidating her license and was able to do so in 1992. Dr. Miranda worked as a general dentist until the fall of 1994 when she decided to open a private practice that she ran until the spring of 2014. To follow her beliefs in giving back to the community by helping as many underprivileged people as possible, Dr. Miranda was inspired to look for a job in a community health center. She joined Community Health of South Florida Inc. (CHI) because of its state-of-the-art equipment, relationship-based and focus on patient care comes first philosophy. She also firmly believes in CHI’s model of comprehensive care that is tailored to fit into the lives and budgets of her patients.

Dr. Miranda is a member of the Lindsey Hopkins Community Smiles Outreach Program, Latin American Dental Study Club and Nicaraguan American Dental Association. Committed to providing the best care possible for her patients, Dr. Miranda completes more than 40 hours of continuing education per year.

Dr. Miranda is in CHI’s Marathon office in the Keys on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. She speaks Spanish and English fluently. Her passion and hobbies include spending time with her three children and two grandchildren.
