La Bezhanidze, MD

Dr. La Bezhanidze is a Family Medicine resident at Community Health of South Florida, Inc. (CHI). She graduated from Tbilisi State Medical University in the Republic of Georgia. She previously worked at CHI’s Key West Health Center as a medical assistant, where she gained valuable hands-on experience serving patients in the Florida Keys. Dr. Bezhanidze’s time as a Medical Assistant allowed her to become familiar with the organization’s mission, its diverse patient population, and the unique healthcare needs of an underserved community.

Originally born and raised in the Republic of Georgia, Dr. Bezhanidze developed a passion for medicine at an early age. Growing up in a rural community where access to medical

care was limited, she witnessed firsthand the challenges individuals and families experienced when seeking healthcare. These experiences helped shape her desire to become a physician and serve communities where access to compassionate, high-quality healthcare is needed most.

During her time in Key West, Dr. Bezhanidze worked closely with the clinical team and particularly benefited from the mentorship of Dr. Sandy Santiago, Associate Medical Director for CHI’s Florida Keys centers. She has described her experience at CHI as both professionally and personally meaningful, emphasizing the supportive environment and the opportunities she received to expand her clinical knowledge and skills.

Dr. Bezhanidze is particularly drawn to Family Medicine because of its emphasis on comprehensive, continuous, and patient-centered care. Her personal experiences and professional journey have strengthened her commitment to improving access to healthcare and making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families.

Dr. Bezhanidze brings with her a strong sense of purpose, resilience, compassion, and a deep commitment to serving underserved communities. Her journey from growing up in rural Georgia, to becoming part of the CHI workforce, and now advancing her career as a physician, reflects her determination to turn a lifelong dream of becoming a doctor into a meaningful career in service to others.
