The Children’s Crisis Center

The Children’s Crisis Center will serve as a haven, where children with severe mental illness can heal. The 11,400 sq. ft. facility will have a 24hr in-patient unit with the capability of accommodating up to 20 children at any given time (1,000 annually) and will also house outpatient services for efficient continuity of care. It is designed with a residential feel for optimal functionality and a therapeutic environment. It will house a team of board-certified child/adolescent psychiatrists, social workers, counselors, and clinicians ready to care for children in crisis up to 17 years of age, regardless of their ability to pay.

Because every child is our tomorrow

As the world continues to change, our children are facing new challenges. Recent studies show an increase in suicide rates, anxiety, depression and other related disorders in young people.

The Children’s Crisis Center will be a safe haven for the children and teens in our community who need support now more than ever.

That’s why we are calling on supporters like you to step up and create a more just system for our children so they can receive the help they not only need but deserve.

With your generous support, we can raise the remaining $209,255.25 needed to open the doors of the Children’s Crisis Center, which will serve nearly 1,000 children annually from Miami-Dade and Monroe counties and who are experiencing a mental health crisis.

We are so close to reaching our $5.5 million goal and we could not have achieved this without the immense support of our donors and distinguished members of CHI’s Giving Societies.

Your Donation Designation Building a Healthy Community

Bricks of Hope

The impact of every donation is infinite. No matter how big or small, your donation has the power to positively impact children in crisis, even when many of them have already given up. In Florida, there are 181,000 children living with serious mental illnesses, and suicide remains the 3rd leading cause of death for ages 15-24. Mental illness is a silent but deadly force that continues to plague the young minds of our community. The most unfortunate part of this reality is that 55% of children needing mental health treatment are not receiving it – simply because they do not have access to the proper mental health services.

Helen B. Bentley Nursing Scholarship Fund

The CHI Foundation awards up to three (3) $1,000 nursing scholarships each year in honor of Mrs. Helen B. Bentley and in recognition of her great work as a public health nurse and community activist.

Since its inception, fifteen scholarships have been awarded to stellar students who will make an important impact to the nursing profession.

Please consider donating to this fund and together we will continue to help our community’s future nurse leaders.

2024 CHI GOLF TOURNAMENT

For nearly two decades, Community Health of South Florida, Inc. (CHI) and Community Health Foundation, Inc. (CHF) has conducted an annual celebrity golf tournament raising money for CHI’s priority programs. It began with the support of sports figures such as former NFL players Robert Bailey and Andewale Ogunleye and NBA Heat Legend Glen Rice. In most recent years, the tournament has been focused in raising money for CHI’s $5.5 million capital campaign to build the Children’s Crisis Center and we are less than $245,100 away from meeting this goal.

Join us a sponsor or put together a foursome and enjoy a great day of golf on April 8, 2023. To learn more, call 786-293-5504.
