Title: Doctor/DO

Dr. Howard Pratt, Behavioral Health Medical Director, brings a unique perspective to pediatric psychiatry. He was once a middle and elementary school teacher and understands the challenges that children have in the classroom. He is a graduate of Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. A native of Orange County, California, he moved to Florida to pursue his career in psychiatry and give back to the community.

He started at CHI in 2014 doing his residency at CHI’s Brodes H. Hartley Jr. Teaching Health Center while he also completed his fellowship at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in child and adolescent psychiatry. Originally on track to become a surgeon, Dr. Pratt was drawn into the field of mental health. While treating those traumatized students, Dr. Pratt had his first experience with the value of sound mental health in our society. Today, Dr. Pratt remains deeply devoted to mitigating the mental health challenges our community continues to face.
