Kathleen Thermezy Etienne is a family nurse practitioner from the first cohort of Foreign-Educated Physicians to Bachelor in Nursing Sciences to Masters in Nursing Sciences program at Florida International University. She was a physician in her native country, Haiti, where she graduated in 1987 and completed her residency in surgery from 1988 to 1992.
After working a few years in Haiti as a surgeon in private practice, she became a volunteer practitioner in community programs and was responsible for the Emergency Medical Services at the World Health Organization. She completed a fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in France from 1996 to 1993. After, she went back to her country where she continued her practice until 2008 when she immigrated to the United States with her family.
In August 2010, she started the Nursing curriculum at FIU. She obtained her BSN/RN in 2012 and her MSN/FNP-BC in 2013. In January 2014, she joined CHI as a primary care provider and is at the same time a candidate for the Doctorate in Nursing Practice at FIU.
In her free time she enjoys reading, listening to music and traveling.
