The C.AR.E.S. Department is a comprehensive HIV/AIDS program that provides prevention and intervention services to individuals and their families. Our goal is the prevention of HIV/AIDS through education, counseling, and other means of community awareness. Together with our funders and community partners, CHI is working towards “Ending the HIV Epidemic” in our community.

Services prevention and intervention provided in the C.A.R.E.S. Department include:
- HIV testing and counseling
- Condom distribution
- Linkage to medical and dental care
- Medical Case Management services
- Nutrition counseling
- Outreach services
- Prescription drug assistance
- Community-wide education/health fairs
- Referrals for support and ancillary services
Services are provided to men, women, transgender, MSM, etc. who meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Age 18 and older
- Uninsured or underinsured
- Meet Federal Income guidelines (400% below the Federal Poverty Level)
- Live in Miami-Dade County
- Provide proper proof of status

Community Initiatives :
“Know Your HIV Status”
Routine HIV testing to educate and prevent HIV infection.
- Free HIV testing for all
- Available at all CHI health centers
- No appointment needed
PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis):
A way for people who do not have HIV but who are at very high risk of getting HIV to prevent infection by taking a pill.
- Medication to prevent HIV infection (Truvada and Descovy)
- Free or reduced cost to patient
Test & Treat Initiative:
The program benefits the client’s health and the community by providing initial ART while working through the issues of eligibility and linkage to ongoing HIV primary care.
- Provides immediate linkage to HIV primary care
- Initiation of Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) at the time of HIV diagnosis
- Return to care after a gap in services
