Honoring Those Who Lift CHI

Since 1971, Community Health of South Florida, Inc. has been a strong purveyor of delivering quality health care to everyone in South Florida. Through the CHI Foundation, we continue to push forward large initiatives, such as our Children’s Crisis Center, bridging the gaps in areas where our communities’ needs have yet to be fulfilled. This would not be possible without the contributions of loyal donors who truly believe in CHI’s powerful mission.

Thus, we are thrilled to announce the inauguration of our new Giving Societies! These Giving Societies honor our donors for their longtime support and the critical role they play in our CHI family.

The Doris Ison Society

The Doris Ison Society recognizes donors who have made cumulative contributions of $1 million and above. This society is named in honor of a South Florida community activist who mobilized local and state leaders in the 1960’s to expand healthcare access and save the lives of children and working people of color. Ison’s efforts were part of the national movement for the rights of poor and disenfranchised people across America and led to the creation of CHI.

The Dr. Lynn Carmichael Society

Named after one of the fathers of family medicine, The Dr. Lynn Carmichael Society recognizes donors with cumulative giving of $500,000 to $999,999. Dr. Carmichael’s dedication helped create community health centers and connect them to teaching facilities.

The Brodes H. Hartley, Jr. Society

The Brodes H. Hartley, Jr. Society recognizes donors who have made cumulative contributions of $250,000 to $499,999. This society was named after CHI’s fourth and longest tenured President/CEO and founding member of Health Choice Network. For 36 years, Colonel Hartley’s innovative approach has led to monumental growth, allowing CHI to serve communities from Coconut Grove to Key West.

The Pioneers Society

The Pioneers Society recognizes donors with cumulative giving of $100,000 to $249,999. This name refers to the pioneering spirit of dedicated medical leaders, who introduced the concept that one person’s health impacts the health and well-being of the entire community.
