Dr. Edgard Nuñez is the Deputy Chief Medical Officer at Community Health of South Florida Inc. He has been a family medicine provider at CHI since 2002. Dr. Nuñez is responsible for oversight of satellite service providers as well as provider recruitment and retention.

Born in Managua, Nicaragua, his motivations to become a physician stem from his early childhood experiences when he admired the passion for medicine from his family doctor in his hometown of Corinto, Nicaragua. Dr. Nuñez earned his doctorate of medicine and surgery degree from the Universidad Autonoma of Honduras in 1983. A few years later, Dr. Nuñez immigrated to the United States where he continued his journey as a physician. He completed his residency in family medicine at the Texas Tech University Health of Science Center. Dr. Nuñez is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Florida Academy of Family Physicians and Nicaraguan American Medical Association. Fluent in Spanish and English, he is often a CHI spokesman for international and national news coverage on community health care and the migrant and Hispanic population.

An enthusiastic fan of boxing, basketball, soccer and baseball, Dr. Nuñez also enjoys theater and cinema.
