Dr. Veronica M. Alvarez-Galiana is the Medical Director of OB/GYN services at CHI where she sees patients at the Doris Ison and Martin Luther King Jr. locations. Dr. Alvarez-Galiana was born and raised in Miami and speaks Spanish fluently. She attended the University of Miami for her bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience where she graduated with Departmental Honors. She also obtained a Master of Science in Education in Community & Social Change at UM. While pursuing her Master’s, she worked as an AmeriCorps Public Ally for UM’s Office of Civic and Community Engagement. She then earned her medical degree from the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at FIU where she was honored to become a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology was completed at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. There, she was involved in advocacy efforts through the AMA and ACOG, passing resolutions in support of women’s health. She continues to be involved in advocacy and desires to decrease disparities in healthcare, especially in maternal and overall gynecologic health.
